Lunar Announcement


RAMADHAN 1446 (2025)


يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الصِّيَامُ كَمَا كُتِبَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ


O you who believe! fasting is prescribed for you, as it was prescribed for those before you, so that you may guard (The Holy Quran 2:183)



As-Salamu Alaykom wa Rahmatullah wa barakatuh to all the respected believers,



We formally announce to you the welcoming and arrival of the blessed month of Ramadan and encourage you to piety, good deeds in lofty purpose of obedience and love for Allah the Exalted. 


As there are different methods between the Jurist (Marj’a) on the recognition of the new month, and with the importance of embracing the diversity found in the Shia Muslim community in this regard, we have two dates for the start of the Holy month.  


For Western Canada and the surrounding areas, the month of Ramadan will begin on;


According to both Shared night method and the method of multiple horizons according to Sayyid Sistani The First of Ramadan will be March 1st 2025 for all of Western Canada (confirm with your marja’s representative or local trusted source)


You may expect Eid for both views in Winnipeg you can expect differing dates according to the methods of the jurist. Ranging from March 30th and March 31st.
